What Can You Do?

One MP reported that just 600 letters nationally raises an issue to the level of national concern. Just 60 will do the same thing on local issues.

If there’s something you are worried about in Archway please tell the Better Archway Forum. Please also think about the following.

Contact Your Councillors

Although the officers carry out the work and even come up with plans for everything from planning to refuse collection, ultimately the councillors themselves are responsible for what happens. It’s not always an easy job and it’s always best to find win-win solutions. The fact that they only kep their jobs if people like what they do is a powerful incentive to keep listening.

Jeremy's position is that he does not believe a large commercial development is either workable or desirable, but he would like to see reworking of the site to help with regeneration.

You may not read some of these but the councillors and local MPs do.

Islington Departments

There is a high turnover of junior officers in many council departments, which means that even with the best of intentions officers sometimes don’t know enough about the area. At the same time as contacting councillors, it is worth writing to the head of the relevant department to explain the position. You will need to contact Islington on 020 7527 2000 for details.
